91ÉçÇø proudly offers a specialised French Semi-Immersion Program for students with background in French language in Years 7 to 9.

In an increasingly globalised world, students benefit from a unique opportunity to develop their intercultural understanding, cognitive skills and ability to communicate confidently and fluently in French.

Participation in our French Semi-Immersion Program opens up enriching academic, cultural and professional opportunities including travelling, studying and working in French-speaking countries around the world. Bilingualism, with its well-documented advantages, provides graduates with a significant asset for their future beyond schooling.

Our program is accredited by the French Foreign Ministry through the , and is currently offered to French-speaking students in Years 7 to 9 with or working towards an A2 level of French.

In Year 7, students study French Language and Literature (3 lessons per week), one semester each of History and Geography (4 lessons per week), and one semester each of Art and Drama (2 lessons per week), all taught in French. Their other subjects are taught in English alongside mainstream students.

In Year 8, students study French Language and Literature (7 lessons per fortnight) and one semester each of History and Geography (4 lessons per week), all taught in French. Their other subjects are taught in English alongside mainstream students.

In Year 9, students study French Language and Literature (4 lessons per week) to prepare for the senior French South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) courses, and a semester each of History and Geography (4 lessons per week), all taught in French. Their other subjects are taught in English alongside mainstream students. In addition, Year 9 students have the opportunity to spend extended time in France with a host family and attend a local ‘collège’ through our partnership with educational travel provider Nacel.

Once students enter Year 10, they may choose to study an accelerated and bespoke Stage 1 SACE course and then continue studying Stage 2 SACE in Year 11, or Higher Level IB French B in Year 11 and 12, or a French university course in Year 12.
